This policy explains how WIXTrac collects, uses, discloses and protects your personal information — including the location, video and telematics data generated by our devices and platform.
WIXTrac ("WIXTrac", "we", "us" or "our") provides GPS tracking, video telematics and fleet-management products and services to customers in Australia. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This policy applies to our website, our online platform and client portal, our mobile applications, and the tracking and camera devices we supply. By using our products or services, you agree to the handling of your information as described here.
We collect the information we need to provide and improve our services. This includes:
Your name, business name, email address, phone number, postal and billing address, ABN, login credentials and the details you give us when you enquire, register, purchase or contact support.
GPS and related positioning data from your devices, including location, speed, route, trip history, ignition status, idling, harsh-driving events, fuel and temperature readings, and signals from connected sensors.
Footage, images and audio recorded by WIXTrac cameras and dashcams, including road-facing and cabin-facing video, AI-detected events (such as fatigue, distraction or collision warnings) and any clips uploaded to the platform.
Device identifiers, SIM and connectivity data, firmware versions, diagnostics, IP address, browser and operating-system details, and how you interact with our website, platform and apps.
Payment and transaction details needed to process orders and subscriptions. Card payments are handled by our payment providers; we do not store full card numbers on our systems.
We use personal information to:
Where you use our products to monitor your own staff, drivers or assets, you are responsible for having a lawful basis to do so and for notifying the individuals concerned. WIXTrac acts as a service provider processing that data on your behalf.
Our services exist to capture and present location and video information, which can be sensitive. Account administrators control who within their organisation can view live and recorded data, and can configure recording, retention and alerting to suit their needs and obligations.
If you are a driver or employee of a WIXTrac customer, the business operating the device — not WIXTrac — determines how that data is used. Please contact that business for information about their monitoring practices. WIXTrac stores and processes the data securely on their behalf.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose it to:
Our mobile applications (including the WIXTrac client apps available on the Apple App Store and Google Play) may collect information such as location, device identifiers, diagnostics and usage data to deliver tracking, live video and notification features. App-store platforms may also collect data under their own privacy policies.
You can manage permissions — such as location and notifications — through your device settings, though disabling them may limit app functionality. This Privacy Policy is the policy referenced by our app-store listings.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure — including encrypted connections, access controls and secure hosting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will respond in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Some of our service providers and infrastructure may be located outside Australia. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide our services, meet legal, accounting and reporting obligations, and resolve disputes. Location and video data are retained according to your account configuration and any applicable legal requirements, after which they are deleted or de-identified.
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity, and some requests may be subject to exceptions under the Privacy Act.
If you have a privacy concern or complaint, please contact us first and we will investigate. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Our products and services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology or legal obligations. The current version will always be available on this page, with the "last updated" date shown above. Significant changes will be communicated where appropriate.
